Last week, Grades 1, 2 and 3 had the opportunity to learn fire safety from the real experts, Firefighters at the Norwalk Fire Department. The NFD taught important lessons about how and why fires start, and how to be prepared.
Homework was assigned: 1) go home and check your smoke detectors, and 2) make a family escape plan with a designated meeting place.
The fire safety training ended with a relay race where the students participated by trying on firefighting gear and going through an obstacle course.
