Twas the moments before Christmas break, when all through the school
The Seniors were mentally checking out, while the 7th and 8th graders were trying to act cool.
The books were stacked in the library with care,
In hopes that one day a student would check one out from there.
Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Weisenberger and Mrs. McDonald were nestled all snug in their chairs,
While the junior class patiently waited for the bell in doorways and on the stairs.
And Mrs. Baca and I having bell schedules to make, Look forward to taking a long Christmas break.
When out in the hall there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the door I flew like a flash,
I passed Mr. Futrell and Mr. Hartsell in the hall as I tried not to crash.
Fluorescent lights gleamed on the freshly waxed floors,
Giving them a luster I had never seen before,
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Mr. Fair with a rare smile on his face while Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mr. Forrest and Mr. Conley sang carols with great Christmas cheer.
The freshmen and sophomores in the halls didn’t seem to mind.
Always remembering that the first thing about being a Flyer is being kind.
Quicker than mice in a line the faculty came,
Mrs. Nickoli was excited for Christmas break calling to her colleagues by their names.
On Rupp, now Beal, Now Livengoods squared. On MacMurray, On Moffit, On Henderson, and Stoll! Both Hainlines, and the Springers times 2. On Badovick, Bonningson, Burge and the rest of you!
To the top of the school, to the top of the class. It’s now 3 PM
So let's get away , get away, let’s get away fast.
To our entire Flyer Family, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May your Christmas break be filled with peace, hope, love, and joy! Merry Christmas.
