Principal Update:
Answering the Call
“I didn’t have being a high school principal on my life’s bingo card.” This true statement is one I have used talking with many students and families over the past three years regarding my role here at St. Paul High School. Even though my involvement in our school goes back 20 years, serving as principal has been a calI I never saw myself receiving, let alone answering. Catholic education is at the core of who I am. My parents were advocates, fighters, and supporters of Catholic education. They worked hard and sacrificed to provide their five kids a Catholic education. Nothing was more important. Why do I do what I do? That answer for me has always been, and continues to be, my parents. Accepting Mr. Linder’s invitation to be principal was life changing, and one I have no regrets making. I felt called to accept Mr. Linder’s invitation and even more called to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. I knew then I was the right person at the right time to lead St. Paul High School.
Life in our house has changed as our children have gotten older and are pursuing their own paths in life. Prior to the start of the school year, I felt that God was calling me in a different direction. Like with most decisions, I spent a great deal of time praying, reflecting, and discerning what God was asking me to do. I do not have all of the answers, but the one answer I do have is beginning next school year, it is the right time for someone else to answer God’s call to lead St. Paul High School as principal.
I cannot begin to express my deep love for our school and the Norwalk Catholic community. I am proud of the culture and experience our administration, faculty, staff, and students have created. I am looking forward to going into the next chapter of my life with the same energy and enthusiasm I approached being principal here at St. Paul High School. The Flyer family, Flyer spirit, and especially the junior high/high school experience has never been stronger. I look forward to supporting the next principal who answers God’s call to lead our school and guide our students to live our standard of what it means to be a Flyer. I will continue to be involved within our school community as a parent and will be working closely with Mr. Linder in an advisory capacity for the foreseeable future. The succession planning began months ago and I am confident our school leadership and the process in place will continue to build upon the great momentum already taking place within our school community. I am grateful Mr. Linder invited me three years ago to share my gifts as principal and I will continue to invite and encourage others to join this life changing ministry. There remains plenty of work to be done and positive memories to be made this school year by our students, faculty, and staff. I am greatly looking forward to being a big part in creating memorable experiences for our students and ending this school year on a strong, positive note. God bless, and forever and always, Go Flyers!
